Wide Open Spaces | It's senior portrait time!

Senior year!!!  It is such an exciting time! I remember the mixed feelings of my senior year of high school like it was last week.  I was happy to be "growing up" and getting out of the only town I'd ever really known.  But, I was also nervous about leaving a town and family and friends that I'd known my whole life.  The Dixie Chicks were a super popular group at the time I graduated, and I remember that I blasted the song "Wide Open Spaces" on my after-market installed CD player rattling in my junkie car as I drove all the way down to college in Southern California.  Filled with excitement of the possibilities that the next four years would bring.  

Kyle, he is in the same boat I was all those years ago.  He is getting ready to wind up senior year of prom, grad night, and graduation.  I chatted with him during our session, and I couldn't help but be a little jealous to hear the same excitement and anticipation in his voice.  Good luck Kyle, and the class of 2012!

Santa Maria Fairpark

I was recently asked to photograph the new building at the Santa Maria Fairpark.  The building itself is not new, it has been around since I was at least in high school I think.  For a very long time it was the satellite wagering facility (read: horse race betting).  But they recently decided to shut down the wagering facility and convert the building into another large venue that people can reserve for weddings, family functions, etc.  I think they did a really great job converting it into a classy venue.  What do you think?

Dinosaurs

Lately this little guy is obsessed with dinos!  We have dino chicken nuggets, he is wearing a dino shirt and reading a dino book!  Do any of you other moms out there have a dino fanatic too??

Toddlers!

I am lucky to be blessed with some really amazing friends, and that blessing is no more evident then when you see this group of women and kids. 

 I met these ladies a few years ago now.  None of us were moms yet.  We checked in with each other almost daily, expressing our frustrations for wanting children, and not yet being blessed with them.  We struggled through miscarriages and negative pregnancy tests, all the while really only having each other to talk to.  Then, within the span of six months, we all transformed into first-time mommies.  Then there was the late-night feedings, teething, sleep-training.....our bond only grew at the same rate our children did.  

Now, some of us even have had a second child!  We decided to get together and have a little birthday party slumber party to celebrate our "miracle babies" turning 2 years old.  Most of our husbands (okay, all of them) thought we were crazy having 6 ladies and 8 children under the same house.  And to be certain, I think us ladies thought we might even be crazy!  But the whole thing was fantastic!  Our kids had a GREAT time with each other, and of course us women were happy to be amongst our good friends.  

I took my camera along to take some portraits of those big two year olds during our sleepover.

These kids are all so photogenic and gorgeous, right?!  They made the photo-taking a lot easier!

 We definitely will be having another party to celebrate when they turn three years old!
